I live in the New Haven area of Connecticut and our electric bills have absolutely skyrocketed in the past year. What are some good ways to conserve electricity on a daily basis? Which household electronics and appliances use the most electricity?
Which will cost more on the electric bill-
Using space heaters or leaving the heat on?

When something uses electricity it produces heat. The more heat, the more power consumption. Space heaters, clothes driers, coffee pots, electric water heaters, etc.. use a good bit of power. A timer on the water heater will save some money. many of the electric companies have programs where they install timers and charge different rates for power usage during off-peak hours, give them a call. The new light bulbs (fluorescent) will save a few bucks a month but other than that, you will have to go around the house and figure out what you have that could be turned off.
